If you think that handwashing bras is complicated and not worth the effort, you’re not alone. However, as long as your bras don’t contain silk or wool fibers, you can hand wash them with any liquid detergent. This is also beneficial from an environmental standpoint, as washing them properly will wear out the bras to the point that you’ve thrown them away where they eventually end up in a landfill. To wash your bras by hand, you need a large container, be it a sink, a bucket, or a plastic tub that allows you to completely submerge your bras in water.
No matter how great your washing machine is, it will wear out your bras faster than washing your hands. However, if you’re using your washing machine, clean your bras on a gentle cycle if possible in a small load of laundry.
