What are the makeup basics i need?

What every beginner needs in his make-up kit/primer. No makeup kit is ever complete without a neutral eyeshadow palette that can wear your look from day to night.. Taupes, bronzes, browns and cream shadows are not only suitable for all eye colors and skin tones, but also for natural, barely occurring day looks and nightly makeup that is both subtle and glamorous. Ready to find out what the ONLY 6 basic makeup essentials you really need are? Before I revealed the products, I will first dispel 3 myths for you.

For one thing, it’s actually an extension of your skin care. And it’s the foundation for a smooth, even makeup application. You may think that applying a face primer is just another unnecessary step in your makeup routine. Save time and money in the long run.

But maybe you’re still a little unsure what it is.. If this is you, be sure to check out my post, which explains what facial primer is, what it does, and why it’s a must in your beauty routine. Apart from mascara, concealer is one of my makeup products that I can’t live without makeup products. I consider both of them my two most important makeup essentials..

Concealer is a little miracle worker for me. And it immediately makes me look and feel better.. Many people get confused between concealer and foundation and what everyone actually does.. So I’m going to break this down for you now.

It’s actually a concealer that really does all the hard work for you, not your foundation. Concealer is essentially a color corrector. Their purpose is to counteract or neutralize discoloration such as redness or pigment spots.. It brightens shaded areas such as dark circles under the eye area or around the mouth.

And it can also camouflage blemishes. Concealer is generally thicker in consistency than foundation because, just like foundation, it lays the foundation for your foundation. While the purpose of concealer is to correct color, the purpose of foundation is to even out your skin tone. Your foundation is almost like a second skin.

It should look like you’re not wearing makeup at all and have an even skin tone.. Remember, less is more when it comes to foundation. You don’t have to use much of it. I prefer to apply the concealer first and then the foundation.

This way you don’t have to apply as much foundation because your concealer has already started to even out your skin tone. Using less foundation gives the skin a much more natural finish.. It is better to build up the product slowly. You can always apply a little more if you feel you need a little more coverage..

Like I said, a foundation should look like a second skin. It should not be noticeable that you are wearing makeup.. It should make you look like you, only much more awake and refreshed. Be sure to check out my Foundation Essentials Masterclass where I explained it in more detail..

And you’ll learn how to choose the right foundation for your complexion. Blusher is another product that people often shy away from.. One of the main reasons for this is that they don’t know how to use it. But blush is such an amazing little product..

It can turn you from tired and pale to fresh and radiant in seconds. This is why Blush is making it onto my basic makeup essentials product list. If you are struggling with applying blush, this post will tell you how to apply blush correctly. Trust me, it’s a lot easier than you think.

There are many different types of mascara to choose from that can be overwhelming. Especially if you are a makeup beginner. The type of mascara you choose really only depends on the type of look you want to achieve.. Be sure to check out my guide to choosing the perfect mascara for your eyes..

In it, I explained what the 4 main categories are and how you can choose the best one for you. If you’re new to makeup, I suggest slowly introducing 1 to 2 of the basic makeup essentials at once.. For example, you could start with concealer and foundation.. Then you could introduce mascara and primer into your routine..

And lastly, blush and lip products. If you really don’t have much time, you’ll immediately look fresher and more awake by applying just a bit of concealer and mascara.. Applying just these few products will not only make you look better.. They also make you feel better.

Which in turn makes your natural beauty shine even more.. I value your privacy 100% and your data is 100% secure. And you can unsubscribe at any time. While some people don’t think foundation is necessary for the face, I personally consider it an important step in my makeup routine..

The exact effect of facial foundations on skin and makeup can vary, but overall their primary purpose is to keep your skin looking smooth and your makeup looking fresh throughout the day.. My favorite foundation for the face is the foundation from Fenty Beauty. It’s expensive, but a little goes a long way and the bottle lasts forever.. Even if you would prefer to buy foundation from the drugstore, I still recommend meeting in a high-end store first. This gives you a better idea of what colors to look for..

My personal favorite foundation is Estee Lauder Double Wear, it has incredible coverage and stays in place forever.. Want some more foundation recs? Read our guide to the best primers with our tips for liquid, cream, and powder primers. I personally prefer CC Cream over a regular foundation as I find it looks much more natural. It’s a great option if you’re looking for something that offers skin care benefits like moisturizing or foundation (some CC creams have a foundation built in)..

If you’re new to the makeup world, a good BB or CC cream is an even better place to start than foundation because it feels lighter on the skin, is hard to overdo, and can be applied with your fingers. The most popular CC cream on the market also happens to be the Your Skin But Better CC+ cream from my favorite IT cosmetics.. It has a sun protection factor of 50+ and contains tons of skincare ingredients to improve your complexion.. If you have acne, dark circles, or discoloration, concealer is a must.

Concealers are available in full coverage and transparent coverage formulations. Which one you should choose depends on how much you’re trying to cover up.. Dark circles are a bit more complicated because their shades and appearance are very different on different skin tones. However, it’s generally a good idea to use a peach or pink concealer to cover them up. I have two favorite concealers for blemishes or discolorations, I love Estee Lauder Double Wear. For dark circles under my eyes, I can’t live without Bobbi Brown’s corrector in sponge cake.

Applying blush can have a huge impact on your overall look, and I personally never let it out of my makeup routine.. Blush is especially important if you’re wearing a foundation with a more covering covering, which sometimes makes your complexion look a bit flat.. Blush is available in powder, gel, and cream formulations, with powder being the most popular.

However, recently, cream and gel blush have also become very popular.. When choosing a blush color, choose something that gives you a natural flush. Regardless of your skin tone, be careful not to get too light when applying or using a hand that is too heavy as these things can make you look clownish. I recommend that you apply blush both to the apples of your cheeks and diagonally to the roots of your hair, regardless of your face shape..

This not only gives your face a healthy color, but also accentuates your cheekbones and highlights the natural contours of your face.. It also looks more natural than simply applying blush to the apples of your cheeks as long as they blend well.. Get a rosy glow with our roundup of the best blushes ever. My foolproof way to apply highlighters is to apply it lightly along the bridge of your nose, cheekbone tips, your cupid’s bow, and just below your eyebrows.

Similar to finding the perfect foundation shade, finding the right highlighter shade depends on your specific skin tone and undertones. It is therefore a good idea to test different colors in person if possible.. My favorite highlighter is this Anastasia palette because it offers four different options to create any type of makeup look. Our guide to the best highlighters offers even more choices for every budget. As someone who loves to be pale, I don’t really use bronzers. However, if you’re trying to achieve a sun-kissed look, using the right bronze tone is essential.

I recommend going no darker than a shade or two deeper than your natural skin tone and either dusting it lightly over the highlights of your face for a healthy glow, or simply dusting it into the cheek cavities (underneath where you would place your blush) for a more chiseled look. Although I don’t use bronzer often, the Sun Bunny bronzer from Too Faced is a favorite of so many of my friends. One compact lasts forever and the powder looks incredibly natural on the skin. Do you love the bronzed look? Check out our list of the best bronzers for a sun-kissed shine.

Choose a creamy formula that can hide dark circles and unwanted skin blemishes.

Foundation is, well, the foundation of any makeup routine, simple or elaborate, but you don’t have to apply it all over your face.. Simply apply to areas where you notice uneven skin tone or discoloration.. If you don’t need as much coverage as foundation provides, or prefer something lighter, consider a tinted moisturizer instead.. When choosing a blush, look for a warm tone that adds a splash of color to the apples of your cheeks (and a little life to your entire complexion)..

There’s no better way to wake up and define those eyes than to improve your eyelashes, and a good mascara is all you need.. Stick to the basic black mascara (or dark brown if you have light hair and eyelashes). It’s up to you whether you use waterproof mascara or not. Before you play with any of the makeup items, the moisturizer plays the key role in building the base for makeup..

Many beauty connoisseurs would say mascara is the most important part of makeup, and for good reason. Keep a pair of tweezers in your makeup bag to remove any stray hairs around your brows that pop up between brow dates.. After all the effort to put together the perfect look, the last thing you want is for your makeup to slip off before your workday has even started.. The fact is that trying on makeup for the first time can definitely be exciting, but finding the right makeup products can also be a challenge..

If you want to go easy on makeup and skip foundation on some days, you can simply use your concealer as a spot concealer and end up looking flawless and still putting it together. A good eye foundation should not only prevent your eye makeup from slipping, fading, and wrinkling, but it should also be included in a formulation that helps colors look the way they’re supposed to throughout the day. While you may be tempted to fill your shopping carts with the latest obsessions in the beauty world, any seasoned professional will tell you that the journey to mastering makeup starts with a good understanding of the basics and knowing what each product can actually do for you. Using a makeup sponge or brush, apply foundation evenly to face and neck and blend until you get a natural-looking layer of light skin.
